primary

Our Primary Department provides children with a solid foundation for future success – academically, socially, and personally. With fully qualified, experienced, and dedicated teachers, we ensure that every child feels supported, confident, and ready to thrive throughout their primary years. This nurturing environment allows learners to make meaningful progress, particularly in the core areas of Literacy and Numeracy.

A Broad and Balanced Curriculum

At Edison International Academy, Aspire, we follow the National Curriculum for England for English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Our curriculum also includes Art, ICT, PSHE, and PE, ensuring that every child receives a well-rounded education that equips them with essential skills for life. These subjects expand students’ creativity, digital competence, physical development, and emotional wellbeing – key elements for navigating an ever-evolving world.

Student-Centred, Inquiry-Driven Learning

We are committed to developing lifelong learners and responsible global citizens. Lessons across our primary department are designed to be active, hands-on, and student-centred. Children are encouraged to share their ideas, lead discussions, and engage in meaningful exploration – strengthening their creative and critical thinking skills as well as their confidence.

Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Modern Foreign Languages

Students, across primary school, receive daily Arabic lessons, and Muslim students also study Islamic Studies. From Year 3 onwards, children are introduced to their Modern Foreign Language of choice (German, Spanish, or French), broadening their cultural understanding and communication skills.

Homework and Assessment

Homework is assigned regularly to reinforce and extend classroom learning. Throughout the primary years, progress is monitored through a comprehensive system of internal assessments ranging from spelling tests and assignments to end-of-unit evaluations and projects.

Co-Curricular Experiences

To enrich learning beyond the classroom, we offer a wide range of co-curricular activities that foster confidence, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition. Events such as Spelling Bee and Quiz Bee competitions, Funky Hat Maths Days, and simple science experiments provide exciting opportunities for students to showcase their talents.
Theme days promote kindness, respect, and awareness of wellbeing and inclusion. We proudly integrate Qatari values and national traditions into our programmes to help students deepen their understanding and appreciation of Qatar’s culture and identity.

Partnering With Parents

We believe that strong home – school partnerships are essential to student success. Parents are warmly encouraged to participate in school activities and contribute ideas, as their involvement enriches the learning experience and supports academic achievement.
